West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek is today back being mentioned by the Italian media as an option for Juventus in the transfer market.
The story comes from outlet Juve Dipendenza, who write about a couple of moves the Old Lady could make this summer. The first is the possibility of giving up on the purchase of Manuel Locatelli, who’s having a loan spell from Sassuolo.
With Juventus needing players of ‘superior qualities’, it’s claimed they should look for new options for their midfield, and that’s where Soucek comes in.
The report points out the 27-year-old has been a ‘central point’ at West Ham, as he ‘increasingly proved’ to be important at the Premier League side.
‘With Soucek, Juventus could reach a top-tier midfielder who in the last period is able to demonstrate great tactical intelligence and who has been able to fit perfectly into the tactical ways of West Ham,’ the report says.
Juve Dipendenza admit that the midfielder’s €45m price tag would be an issue for Juventus, even though he could fix many midfield problems they’ve been struggling with.
Soucek had already been linked to the Old Lady in the past, but truth is that this rumour had been quiet for a while. Now as his signing is still reported as an option, rather than claims about Juve’s real intention of going for him, we probably best wait and see if Italy’s big newspapers start saying more about this potential chase.
