Pedro Obiang to Sampdoria has been building in the Italian media.
On Friday claims came from Genoa of the player being keen on a return to his former club. Obiang was said to have ‘many friends’ and ‘great memories’ in the Italian city and be eager to go back.
The problem for Genoa was said to be the player’s €3m a year wages and what would happen with them after either a loan or permanent transfer.
Saturday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport also covers the potential move.
It’s stated the player has already indicated his willingness to leave the Hammers for Sampdoria, and now would come the ‘decisive’ stage.
There’s been a confidence in Italy that Obiang is more available than previously because of the recruitment work already done by Manuel Pellegrini.
Several Serie A sides have been linked but problems always seem to arise when money becomes a factor in the process.
