Two months ago, we relayed news from Spain that Barcelona’s Junior Firpo is a long-term for West Ham United.

He left Real Betis for the Catalan club in 2019 and was brought to challenge Jordi Alaba for a place in the starting lineup. That hasn’t happened so far.

The left-back was restricted to only 11 league starts in his first season at the Camp Nou and has lost prominence under Ronald Koeman, making only two starts [five in all competitions] in La Liga this term.

Despite all this, the 24-year-old ‘arouses interest’ from elsewhere, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Marseille are among that as their manager, Jorge Sampaoli, and president, Pablo Longoria know the player from their time in Spain.

The former Chile coach is an admirer of the fullback and ‘wants’ him at the French club. The Ligue 1 side are not the only club looking at Junior.

According to the newspaper, Inter Milan, AS Roma, AC Milan and Napoli are all interested in the defender. From England, the Hammers get a mention and Mundo states West Ham have ‘probed him’.

With Junior arousing interest from several clubs, including David Moyes’ side, Barca could consider his sale in the summer.
