There’s a new player been thrown into West Ham’s increasingly action packed summer transfer window.
Tuesday evening is seeing claims come from Spain that West ham have offered Celta Vigo €30m for striker Maxi Gomez. The 21 year old scored 17 goals and made 4 assists last season in La Liga.
It was the youngster’s first season outside of Uruguay and he adapted really well, so perhaps it’s a surprise there hasn’t been more interest so far this summer.
A full Uruguay international, Gomez had previously been at Defensor Sporting in his home country.
Spanish journalist Victor Lopez is the one bringing the West Ham claims, and he says Celta Vigo could ask for €40m in return. The claims have also been picked up by Radio Galega, local to Celta.
El Desmarque report that Sevilla are also interested, but they wouldn’t go as high as the figures being mentioned. It’s also stated that if ‘everything runs smoothly’, the Hammers and Celta can reach an agreement by the end of the week.
