On Christmas Eve, Le10 Sport reported an English club had made an offer for Morgan Sanson.
The name of the club wasn’t revealed, and it was explained Marseille need to sell a player in January in order to balance their accounts. Sanson was seen as a good option for that, and there’s been talk of Premier League interest for some time.
Today, Le10 Sport say they’ve found out the name of the club: West Ham.
The exact amount of the offer hasn’t been revealed, however, it hasn’t been enough to please the Ligue 1 side. On a sporting basis, they’d like to keep the midfielder beyond the winter market, but this stance could be changed with an offer above €35m.
Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all said to be following the player closely.
With the 25 year old on a contract lasting until June 2022, Marseille aren’t under pressure in that regard.
Given Sanson has so repeatedly been linked with a move to England, and there’s never appeared anything concrete in it, this one may be best taken with a pinch of salt. That said, someone in France is clearly eager when it comes to pushing these claims.
