West Ham United have emerged as a suitor for Barcelona’s Memphis Depay, according to reports coming out of Spain.
Having secured second spot, the Catalan club will now need to ‘get rid of the players’ who are not included in Xavi Hernández’s plans. That’s according to ABC, who state the forward is included in the La Liga side’s transferable list.
It’s claimed West Ham United are one of the clubs to have made contact about signing the 28-year-old.
The Netherlands international joined the Blaugrana as a free agent last summer. He’s found it hard to have prominence after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres and Adama Traoré arrived at the Camp Nou in January.
Depay’s contract expires in 2023 and the newspaper states his sale in the summer would be a ‘great deal’ for Barcelona.
A few days ago, Fichajes.net reported West Ham United are one of three clubs ‘interested’ in the Dutchman. However, they did stress the Hammers are the ‘most remote option’ for him, since they cannot offer Champions League football next season.
