Starting off their campaign with a game against Manchester City, West Ham United knew they were in for a tough time.
Their 2-0 loss was almost unavoidable, and it didn’t change the fact that David Moyes wants a new midfielder in his team at London Stadium.
Missing out on Amadou Onana means he is having to look elsewhere for that man, and CalcioAtalanta in Italy claim he’s turned their attention to a Dutchman.
That man is Teun Koopmeiners, and the website claim the 24-year-old was the subject of an ‘enquiry’ by West Ham regarding a potential summer transfer ‘in the last few hours’.
The idea would be for him to ‘work alongside Declan Rice’ and Tomas Soucek in the middle of the park, but it seems the Hammers won’t find it easy to sign him.
That’s because of the timing, as 20 days or so from the end of the transfer market, ‘a possible negotiation would be very complicated’.
Atalanta consider him a key player, and they don’t seem that keen to let him go, as he is ‘almost unsellable’.
Of course, we all know money talks, but we’ll have to wait and see if West Ham come forward with an actual bid first.
