Brentford could secure the signing of Morten Frendrup from Genoa this summer, with the midfielder ‘about to say goodbye’ to the Italian club.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who report that Frendrup is wanted by ‘half the Premier League’ but namecheck Brentford in particular.
They say that Frendrup, alongside Koni de Winter, is one of those in the current Genoa squad who can ‘shift the balance’, economically speaking for the Italian club this summer.
The midfielder is being followed by Atalanta but also the Premier League and Brentford. The Bees have been linked on two occasions already this month, with it explained they were in pole position for the 24-year-old.
TMW say that there is a deal there to be done, with the midfielder probably having an agreement to say goodbye after the ‘great interest in him was dismissed in the January transfer window. Their belief is that a deal can be done for around €20m.
Whether that’s a price Brentford are willing to pay remains to be seen but the indications from Italy are that there’s a deal there to be done and they can get their man.
They’ll likely face competition from Atalanta, and perhaps other teams in the Premier League too, but the opportunity will be there, nonetheless.
