Free to choose his next club after running down his contract at Paris Saint-Germain last season, Hatem Ben Arfa was said to be on the lookout for a team playing in the Champions League.

Approaching August and still without a team, it seems none of the clubs participating in next year’s European competition have come forward, meaning he might have to look elsewhere.

One option for him could end up being West Ham, according to Foot365 journalist Nizar Hanini, who took to his Twitter on Thursday to reveal the Hammers are the latest club to have come forward for the former France international.

Leaving Nice for Paris Saint-Germain two years ago on a free, the attacking midfielder never managed to break through in the capital, ending up spending all of last season away from the first-team, never even making the bench under Unai Emery.

It’s hard to know if this is a risk or not, as Ben Arfa’s fitness could be more than questionable, and he’s unlikely to want to play for low wages.

Perhaps a simple one-year contract could be on the cards, with multiple incentives based on his performance?
