Every day now, we expect to see an update in the Italian media regarding Tottenham’s interest in Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The Japan international appears to be one of Fabio Paratici’s prime targets to bolster the Spurs backline, but they are facing interest from other clubs, namely Atalanta.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport believe there is also a club closer to home, in the shape of West Ham United, who are also on the case.
A new defender is needed at London Stadium this summer with a European campaign to deal with next season, and the Bologna star could very well do the trick.
He wouldn’t be the most expensive, either, with a fee close to €20m believed to be enough to seal the deal, but that will depend on whether or not an auction occurs.
Atalanta, however, seem reluctant to take part in a bidding war, according to the Italian newspaper, and ‘remain stuck on the proposal of €18m’.
Because ‘there is now competition from West Ham and especially Tottenham’, the Serie A side know it could be futile and perhaps even a waste of money to get involved in an auction with them, which is why the likes of Sven Botman are also being looked at.
This could be an advantage for both the Hammers and Spurs, and it will be interesting to see which one proves more convincing if it ends being a choice between the two London sides.
