West Ham United are interested in signing Lyon midfielder Thiago Mendes, according to claims on Tuesday.
The information comes from Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, who on YouTube, shares a few updates on the 30-year-old’s situation in France.
Pointing out that Mendes is an ‘old dream’ of Flamengo, the report claims the Rio de Janeiro side face a ‘big problem’ to land the player this summer, which is the chase from West Ham.
It’s said the Hammers joined the competition from the midfielder, and besides offering him the chance of playing in the Premier League, they can obviously pay him more than the Brazilian club.
Mendes’ contract with Lyon runs until 2023. Nicola claims that the French side would rather make money with his sale now than let him go for free next year, so this is a chance for all those interested in his signing.
West Ham’s entering the picture for the transfer is said to be ‘everything that Flamengo did not want’, as they know they can’t fight a Premier League side in the transfer market.
