Goncalo Guedes is still only 24-years-of-age and has plenty of time left to fulfil his earlier promise, despite recent struggles.
Coming through the ranks at Benfica, the forward moved to PSG in a big money move in 2017. He wasn’t able to be an instant hit and was then sent on loan to Valencia.
Guedes did so well for the La Liga side that they made his signing permanent for around €40m, yet now he’s available for less than half of that… and that’s where West Ham come in.
Spain’s Fichajes report West Ham, Napoli and AS Monaco are all keen on signing. It’s claimed Valencia have set an asking price of €15m, but it could be a case of buyer-beware.
So far this season, Guedes has appeared in 18 La Liga matches, contributing one goal and one assist. Several fitness niggles have held him back, yet it’s not too unkind to say the player has lost some of his effectiveness and a change of scene could be a good idea.
David Moyes has already got Jesse Lingard back to his best form, so there’s a possibility he could look to do the same with others.
