As seems to be the case every summer transfer window, one of the priorities for West Ham in the coming months is to find an adequate backup for Andy Carroll that doesn’t spend most of his time injured.
Simone Zaza, Jonathan Calleri and Diafra Sakho have all failed in this department, and the Hammers are now said to be one of many clubs interested in Anderlecht forward Lukasz Teodorczyk.
The 25-year-old has scored 28 goals in 49 appearances this season for the Europa League quarter finalists, showing great endurance over the course of the campaign, even if fatigue appears to be catching up with him over the past month or so.
Very unlikely to play as many games in the Premier League next season, the Poland international would be an ideal alternative to the towering English forward, and RTBF in Belgium expect any deal taking him away from his current club would surpass the €15m benchmark.
Considering West Ham and Slaven Bilic were willing to spend over €30m on a goalscorer last season, such a fee shouldn’t be too hard to find in the club coffers for the upcoming transfer period.
However, with West Brom also said to be in the mix, they could find themselves in a bidding war with a club also desperately in need of a new forward if they leave things too late.
