West Ham United are now being named in the long list of clubs who are reportedly interested in the Benfica starlet João Félix.
The Hammers’ interest is claimed by Spanish outlet AS today, as the website talks about the big race which is being formed for the 19-year-old.
AS highlights the chase from Real Madrid, who have been following the player for a few years. Now with his professional debut, clubs are finally having more thoughts about signing him.
The outlet recalls that Manchester United, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have all scouted the player last month. But other clubs such as Juventus, PSG, Monaco, Bayern Munich, Milan and West Ham have gone ‘one step forward’ and asked for the player’s price.
But the price is simple: €120m, which is the amount of his release clause. AS adds that a Premier League side offered €60m in the January market, but that was turned down by Benfica.
AS claims that some scouts have been saying Félix has the potential to be ‘similar or better’ than Kylian Mbappé. No wonder by Benfica are now working to raise his release clause to €200m.
João Félix has been playing this season in four different positions: advanced midfielder, second striker, right and left winger. Last weekend, he bagged a goal and an assist in the Lisbon derby against Sporting.
