It’s all getting very messy with West Ham’s potential deal to sign Henry Onyekuru from KAS Eupen in Belgium.

The 19-year-old has expressed his desire to play in England next season, with the Hammers reportedly the clear favourites to sign him after agreeing a fee with the Belgian side last week, but they don’t want to wait forever.

News from Belgium on Monday was that Anderlecht were also in the race, having agreed personal terms Onyekuru, but were yet to sort out a fee with Eupen.

West Ham, down their end, are yet to agree a contract with the Nigerian forward, and OwnGoalNigeria reported on Sunday the London club have set a deadline before they move on.

Clearly not wanting to have a repeat situation to the Carlos Bacca debacle from last season, West Ham have told Onyekuru he has two weeks to agree a deal with them.

Expected to represent his country for the first time at the end of May in a friendly against Corsica, this would leave the Eupen striker until the 4th of June (or thereabouts) to say yes to the Hammers’ offer.

Desperately wanting a striker who can put the ball in the back of the net, Onyekuru seems like the ideal man to do that, scoring 24 goals in 41 appearances this season, primarily from the wing.
