Earlier on Monday, we relayed information from Le Parisien that West Ham and Marseille were still in talks regarding the transfer of Dimitri Payet back to France, and now RMC Sport have also confirmed the situation.

While the latter aren’t as optimistic as their colleagues, there is still hope a deal can get done, especially considering the position Payet has put the Hammers in.

RMC state that West Ham are well aware they cannot keep hold of the player, mostly because of the fans’ anger, and despite Marseille’s bid of €27m on Friday not being quite enough, time should play in the French club’s favour.

The two sides were expected to continue talks on Monday, with Marseille expected to make a fourth offer.

As for the player, RMC explain Payet is ‘ready to fly’ to the south of France, with his family ‘unhappy’ in London.

The French radio station also reveal no financial agreement has been reached between Marseille and their former star, although once the two clubs negotiate a fee, RMC seem to think Payet will pretty much say ‘yes’ to the four and a half year contract put in front of him.

With eight days left in the transfer window, and everyone getting closer and closer to a deal, Marseille might actually end up getting their man, leaving Slaven Bilic with a bit of money to play with if there’s time left.
