Despite paying €20.7m for his services in August of 2022, West Ham United have never really given Maxwel Cornet the chance to impress.
The forward has had to make do with a lot of substitute appearances under David Moyes, and with just 117 minutes of football under his belt this season, a move elsewhere would make the most sense for everyone involved.
That’s why Fenerbahçe are keeping an eye on the situation, as explained by Takvim on Monday, who report that Cornet was ‘recommended’ to the Turkish club through agents.
As of now, the Turkish side have yet to take any sort of decision about whether they want to pursue the winger, but if their manager, Ismail Kartal, approves of the idea, then ‘official initiatives will begin’.
Cornet, down his end, ‘plans to leave’ West Ham because he isn’t getting enough football, and should Fenerbahce make a move, they ‘plan to complete the transfer’ for a fee of around €7-8m.
That would be a big loss for West Ham, although considering their use, or lack of, of him, they can only ask for so much and will have to come to terms with the fact clubs aren’t going to break the bank for the Ivory Coast international.
