West Ham United appointed Julen Lopetegui as their new manager in May, just days after David Moyes stepped down from his post.
The Hammers have endured a difficult start under the Spaniard’s orders this season as they have one league win after five matches. West Ham are 14th in the table, three points ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are at the bottom of the table.
Friday’s edition of Sport has a report on West Ham, titled ‘Lopetegui on the brink of drama in London’.
The Premier League side were active in the summer window as they signed 10 players, of which two were on free transfers and two on loan.
West Ham spending over €140m hasn’t ‘solved the problems’ so far and Lopetegui is ‘still unable to find the key’ to help them get out of their difficult situation.
In their last tie, the London club suffered a 5-1 loss against Liverpool in the EFL Cup. The newspaper claims West Ham’s ‘feeling couldn’t be worse’, especially after investing a lot of money in the last window.
The situation is starting to worry, more so for the former Sevilla man, who’s future could be in danger.
West Ham will face Brentford and Ipswich Town before October’s international break. The club could be forced to make a decision on Lopetegui, if they fail to win either of these two games.
