Nikola Milenkovic spent much of the summer transfer window being linked with a move to West Ham United.

His contract situation with Fiorentina, and claims about an agreement over making a transfer easy, attracted attention from several clubs, with the Hammers being the most linked in the Premier League.

Then in mid August he signed a renewal with La Viola, which pretty much killed the prospect of a transfer in that window. However, the renewal was a short one, only lasting until June 2023, so the whole transfer situation was just kicked away for a year.

TMW look at the situation, and say they’ve found out Atletico Madrid could present a challenge to English clubs for the defender. Again, it’s a summer moved being planned for, and West Ham are the only Premier League club actually named.

It’s stated Milenkovic was ‘very close’ to signing for the Hammers in the summer, so the assumption is David Moyes’ side would be keen again, depending on what happens with their own defensive options.

Atletico Madrid won’t be an easy club to battle against.
