Appointing Manuel Pellegrini as their latest manager, West Ham made sure most of the Chilean’s wishes were granted over the course of the summer.
But despite signing exciting new players like Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Issa Diop (among others), the Hammers’ start to the season didn’t go as planned, even if they seem to be slowly but surely finding their feet of late.
Among the players they allegedly missed out on was Franco Vazquez, Sevilla’s Argentinian attacking midfielder.
Back in July, various reports in Spain suggested West Ham were keen on the 28-year-old, and talk of a €30m transfer was relatively rife.
To us, this all seems very generic, perhaps even too easy, but we’re a cynical bunch.
