Still trying to sign a number of players on transfer deadline day, Newcastle United are firing bids left, right and centre.
One of the deals they have been trying to work on was the signing of Issa Diop from West Ham United, but it appears the Hammers have slammed the door shut in the Magpies’ faces.
That’s what RMC Sport are reporting on Monday morning, claiming that ‘despite an offer of €8m’ from Newcastle for the French centre-back, it has been rejected.
It’s said West Ham ‘closed the door’ to Eddie Howe’s side regarding a transfer, simply because the London side ‘don’t want to sell’.
Signed from Toulouse for £22.5m, Diop has seen his game time reduced by quite a bit of late, which is why there must have been a feeling a door could be opened, but that isn’t the case.
The 25-year-old has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season for West Ham, all starts, but has also spent 16 on the bench, including the latest 1-0 loss to Manchester United.
