Gianluca Scamacca is expected to become a West Ham United player this week, with Sassuolo confirming they’ve reached an agreement with the Premier League club.
PSG had been linked repeatedly, but the French club didn’t really come forward in the end, leaving the road clear for David Moyes’ side.
Monday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport reports the striker is expected to travel to London either today or tomorrow, where he’ll go through his medical tests and sign his contract. It’s explained personal terms haven’t been completely finalised but that there’s a board agreement on them, so it’s not thought that could be a problem.
According to the Italian newspaper, West Ham are being ‘cautious’ and they want everything defined and confirmed as soon as possible. It’s explained they’ve had issues previously with late demands from agents, such as with Arnaut Danjuma, and don’t want to let things drag out too long.
Corriere don’t expect a repeat of those issues with Scamacca, but they understand West Ham’s position, saying a little caution ‘never hurts’.
