Back in July, we covered claims from Germany that West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford were among the clubs to have looked at Hertha Berlin’s Ibrahim Maza.
It was also reported the 18-year-old was keen on leaving the second division German club in the summer window.
West Ham, Brighton and Brentford’s interest in Hertha Berlin’s Ibrahim Maza is pointed out again in this week’s edition of SportBild.
It’s claimed the Premier League trio, along with VfB Stuttgart and FC Augsburg, all chased Maza in the last window.
The Germany U20 international graduated from Hertha Berlin’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2023. He clocked in less than 600 minutes from 13 games last season, managing a goal and an assist in the process.
SportBild say Hertha Berlin set a €10m asking price for the youngster. It’s not clear whether West Ham, Brighton, Brentford or any other club were willing to meet their request.
Despite the price tag, Maza’s employer had no plans to sell him. They were working to extend his contract and secured that on transfer deadline day. Maza’s new deal lasts until 2027.
“My family and friends are here, which makes me very happy. The whole club, the fans, the team, the coaching team give me a good feeling,” he said.
He’s managed two goals and an assist from five games this season. If he were to continue to shine, West Ham, Brighton or Brentford could return for Maza in the coming windows.
