Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Yerson Mosquera has admitted he had no words after scoring in the 2-1 win over world champions Argentina.
Heraldo cover comments from the Wolves man today, who clearly didn’t know what to say after scoring the opening goal of the game.
Mosquera bagged the opener in the 25th minute before Nicolas Gonzalez levelled the scores in the 48th minute.
A James Rodriguez penalty in the 60th minute put Colombia back in front, though, and was enough to see the home side to a crucial win in World Cup qualifying.
It was a big win for Colombia, who had warned beforehand that they were more than ready for revenge after the defeat in the Copa America final in the summer.
Indeed, Argentina were told before the game that they faced ‘hell’ in Barranquilla thanks to high temperatures, higher humidity and a pitch that wouldn’t suit their game.
That proved to be the case as they were far from their best and Colombia took advantage to seal all three points in a big win.
The Wolves man got his nation started with a header and admitted after the game he didn’t have the words to describe his first goal for his country.
“I don’t have words to say what I’m feeling, I couldn’t believe it, that’s why I was holding my head during the celebration,” he said.
“They (his more experienced teammates) know the joy I have inside, and they were happy for me.”
