On Tuesday, when we were covering the William Carvalho saga, we found a strange story from Jornal de Notícias saying West Ham would also be interested in his midfield partners Adrien Silva and João Palhinha.
And despite being the only newspaper with this information, they haven’t given up on it. On Wednesday, the outlet insists on the claims, this time saying the transfer could be decided today.
They claim that William Carvalho’s deal is looking more unlikely and West Ham are set to point to Adrien Silva and João Palhinha instead.
West Ham had reportedly offered €30m for the duo, but Sporting demanded €5m more in bonuses, and the next bid is expected by the Lisbon side today. As things with Carvalho would have gone cold, this is the only offer being awaited, according toJornal de Notícias.
That would be a very interesting turnaround, although we still find it strange that from all Portuguese newspapers covering the chase, only Jornal de Notícias have this information on West Ham.
They’re sticking to their guns, and that’s admirable in a sense.
