West Ham United have ‘tested the waters’ for Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard ahead of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to La Repubblica, who say the Hammers are one of several Premier League clubs part of an ‘auction’ for the left-winger.
Damsgaard has been a key player for Sampdoria this season, with 22 appearances in all competitions so far.
He’s impressed too, earning the trust of manager Claudio Rainieri, who has made him one of his most used players this season.
West Ham are one of them, with the Hammers, Tottenham, Leeds and Southampton also having ‘tested the waters’ for the 20-year-old.
The newspaper says Sampdoria want around €20m for the attacker, despite the fact they only paid €6.5m for him in 2019.
Whether that’s a price any of the mentioned clubs are willing to pay isn’t mentioned, but the interest is certainly there nonetheless.
Of course, this is not the first time West Ham have been linked. At the end of January, we covered a report from Club Doria that stated they were keen and that there had already been a meeting with his representatives.
It seems that interest is still there and they’ve now sounded out Sampdoria about a potential move, with this very much one to keep an eye on for the summer.
