At the beginning of the January transfer window, West Ham were linked with a move for Daniel Opare by the Daily Mail.
David Moyes side were one of several from the Premier League said to be interested in the fullback.
There was an added bonus, Opare was valued at just £3m because his contract runs out in June.
Now that he hasn’t moved and hasn’t renewed, there’s another added bonus… he’s soon to be available for £0, a figure which even the West Ham board wouldn’t want to pay instalments.
Opare has completely fallen out with the Augsburg board having been photographed by Bild in talks with Schalke officials.
The same German newspaper report the 27 year old is being made to train alone, and unless something changes dramatically at Augsburg, or they manage to force him to move to Russia or somewhere else a window is open, there’s a free transfer on the horizon.
West Ham were linked with several fullbacks in January, and given Opare can play on both the right and left sides of defence, he could prove a good option.
