West Bromwich Albion will pay around €800,000 to loan Mbaye Diagne from Galatasaray and negotiate a permanent deal based on his performances in the summer.
That’s according to the latest reports in Turkey today as the Baggies close in on the striker Sam Allardyce has been chasing for much of this window.
The West Brom boss is desperate to add another forward to his options before the close of the transfer window, with goalscoring a real problem for his side this season.
He appears to have settled on Diagne and several reports yesterday indicated that West Brom and Galatasaray were close to finalising a deal, with the player reportedly on his way to England to sign with his new club.
The impending deal is covered again by the Turkish media today, with the finer details of the move also revealed.
Hurriyet say that Galatasaray have already signed the agreement with West Brom, but the move is being held up by their pursuit of Mostafa Mohamed, once that is sorted, Diagne can fly to England.
They report that the loan deal will cost €800,000 and Diagne underwent a PCR (Covid test) and health check yesterday morning, both of which he completed.
FotoMac back this up and say that Diagne will join West Brom in an €850,000 loan deal, so slightly more, and add that there is also an option to buy included.
However, according to their information, this is not a set price but something the two clubs will negotiate depending on his performances at the end of the season.
That latter point is supported by Haberturk, who also say that West Brom plan to negotiate with the Super Lig side ‘in line’ with Diagne’s performances.
It is now up to the striker to prove his worth, with Allardyce and everyone at the Hawthorns hoping he is the man who can fire them away from trouble.
