In mid May, out of nowhere, Argentine newspaper Ole reported West Brom interest in Lucas Alario. Ole really aren’t known for pushing Premier League rumours, it’s not what the newspaper does, so the claim had clearly come from somewhere.
With West Brom on a clear search to find a new striker for Tony Pulis, it’s didn’t take too much to believe the search had found its way to Argentina. The 24 year old has been impressing for Buenos Aires giants River Plate, and the Argentine media feel he’ll only be allowed to leave for his €18m clause.
There’s been no further pushing of West Brom, but it looks like Borussia Dortmund have come into the picture.
Germany’s Sport Bild magazine have a big feature on Dortmund’s potential signing of the player, but there’s no mention of competition from West Brom.
This may be one that Pulis has let slide, with other options preferred, but if Alario remains on the market, and West Brom don’t find a striker soon, then the interest may resurface.
