West Bromwich Albion had a bid for Filip Krovinovic turned down by Benfica, according to claims from Portugal today.
Newspaper Record writes that the Baggies wanted the midfielder on a new loan, this time with a clause which would force them to buy him for something less than €10m at the end of the season.
This clause would only be triggered in case West Brom manage to stay in the Premier League, and Benfica didn’t really like it.
The Eagles want the permanent move guaranteed, otherwise the Baggies could have a bad season and Krovinovic would be sent back to Lisbon, potentially devalued.
West Brom’s intention to keep Krovinovic on another loan has been reported by the Portuguese media in the past few days, and we’ve been pointing out that Benfica would hardly renew the deal with the same conditions.
The midfielder had 43 appearances for the Baggies last season, and after helping the club to get the promotion to the Premier League, perhaps he’s worth a bigger effort from them to keep him.
