West Bromwich Albion have made an approach for Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam, according to claims in the Italian media. With just 12 months remaining on the left back’s contract the Algeria international could move during the next window.
TMW have today reported West Brom have taken an interest in Ghoulam following his links to other Premier League sides in recent months. It’s been claimed West Brom have contacted Napoli with regards to the availability of Ghoulam, and the West Midlands club have been told they’d have to table an offer of €20m to sign the player, because the Italian side aren’t keen to sell.
Subsequently West Brom have distanced themselves from a possible deal to sign Ghoulam, but Napoli still have a decision to make. Napoli have tried to get Ghoulam to commit himself to the club for longer than his current deal, and there’s still a possibility they’ll be forced to sell him before the deadline.
The Algerian will be able to speak to other clubs in the new year with regards to a pre-contract agreement, and Napoli risk losing him on a free next summer.
