West Bromwich Albion were one of the few clubs who had scouts watching the Portuguese league match between Moreirense and Rio Ave at the weekend.
It’s Portuguese newspaper A Bola reports the presence of West Brom emissaries at the match, although they don’t make it clear if they were watching any specific target.
What the officials could see was a disappointing result for the home side, as Rio Ave managed to leave the pitch with a 1-0 win, leaving Moreirense bottom of the table.
Few players were given a positive rating from the local press.
For Moreirense, left-back Ruben Lima and midfielder Boubacar were praised for their vitality doing the entire game. For Rio Ave, midfielder Bressan had a good performance and scored from the penalty spot, while Domingos Duarte could keep the defence safe.
According to A Bola, the other clubs who sent scouts to this match were Borussia Dortmund, Deportivo La Coruña, Sporting Gijón, West Ham, Caen, Lens and Sparta Praga.
