With several big newspapers in Portugal covering the same stories, it’s normal to see different versions of rumours everyday.

Yesterday, we covered a report from O Jogo which claimed both West Brom and West Ham have made €20m bids for the Sporting midfielder Rodrigo Battaglia.

With the Lions now signing two midfielders in the January window, the Argentine’s departure seemed likely, even though the asking price may be a little high.

Now Record comes up with a different version of the story today. Although they confirm that both West Brom and West Ham are interested, the details aren’t the same.

They say West Brom showed up first, offering €15m. West Ham, just like Werder Bremen, have their interest as something more recent, and don’t seem to have made bids yet.

But Record doesn’t bring very positive news about a move. Unlike O Jogo, they say that the player is much liked by manager Jorge Jesus, who hopes to turn him into William Carvalho’s substitute once the captain leaves the club.
