Seemingly on his way out from West Bromwich Albion after a war of words with Tony Pulis, Nacer Chadli was said to be of interest to a handful of Premier League clubs, including Swansea.
However, according to DH in Belgium, the Belgian forward could end up in Germany if the Baggies decide to lower their asking price in the last few days of the transfer window.
Schalke, who are based in Gelsenkirchen, close to Chadli’s native country, are the ones after the former Tottenham man and are pushing hard to try and get a deal over the line.
Unfortunately, West Brom’s valuation of somewhere in between €20-30m for the 28-year-old is proving a little bit too high for the Bundesliga side.
Having bought him for around €15m from Spurs just last summer, West Brom’s attempts at making a profit in the current market are understandable, and Swansea could easily pay that amount, having recently received £45m from Everton for Gylfi Sigurdsson.
DH also state that, down his end, Chadli would be open to a move to Schalke, where he would team up with fellow ex-Tottenham castaway Nabil Bentaleb, who signed for the Bundesliga outfit permanently this summer following a successful loan spell there last season.
