West Bromwich Albion are in talks for the signing of Belenenses striker Mateo Cassierra, according to reports from the Portuguese media.
Newspaper Record writes that the Baggies have already submitted a first bid for the 24-year-old, and that was turned down by the Lisbon side.
Belenenses are now said to be waiting for ‘a new approach’ from West Brom, while there are other clubs who are interested in the player.
It isn’t said how much the Baggies put on the table when submitting that first offer. Still, Record recalls that president Rui Pedro Soares recently revealed that he rejected a bid of €2.2m for the player.
Cassiera, who’s Colombian, joined Belenenses on a move from Ajax back in 2019.
Playing for the Portuguese side last season, he had ten goals and one assist in 36 appearances.
The striker is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €2m, even though it sounds like he’ll only move if West Brom offer more than that.
