Despite claims that Yann M’Vila was in talks to head to Sunderland, it appears that he is now heading to West Bromwich Albion instead.
The news comes from Foot Mercato in France, who have an article on the matter on Friday, following an initial post on X, formerly Twitter, from their journalist Santi Aouna.
The latter claimed that West Brom are in ‘advanced negotiations’ with the French midfielder, who is a free agent after leaving Olympiakos in the summer.
He adds that an agreement is ‘expected soon’ with a four month deal being discussed, meaning he would stay until the end of the season.
As for M’Vila in all this, he ‘wants the move’ back to England, where he has always said he enjoyed himself during his time at Sunderland.
He had been pining for a return to the Stadium of Light, but that appears to have faded away, with West Brom now clearly in the lead to sign him.
The 33-year-old will now get a chance to play in England, and against Sunderland to boot, since the two sides are set to clash in April at The Hawthorns.
