Former Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder has told the Italians they need to ‘take away’ Mohamed Salah’s ‘time to think’ if they are to beat Liverpool this evening.
Inter face Liverpool at the San Siro in the Champions League this evening in the first leg of their last 16 clash.
The Italians will come into the game as the underdogs, with Jurgen Klopp’s side considered the favourites to progress from the tie.
Any hopes Simone Inzaghi’s side have of securing a positive result will rest on their ability to limit Liverpool’s forward line, which has been in good form again this season.
Salah is leading the goalscoring charts as usual, with 23 goals and nine assists in 28 games in all competitions so far.
He’s been in scintillating form in the Champions League, in particular, racking up seven goals in six group games earlier in the competition.
He’ll be looking to continue his goalscoring form against Inter, and Sneijder has advised his former team on how to stop that from happening.
“You take away his time to think,” he told Gazzetta Dello Sport when asked how to ‘limit’ the Egyptian.
“If you give him space, you have no chance. You have to shorten the field play with tight lines. And then… hope that he makes mistakes too.”
