Aston Villa’s Kosta Nedeljković made a late loan move to RB Leipzig in the winter market.

The Serbia international has played only 36 minutes over three matches for Leipzig, who have an option to make his stay permanent.

Earlier this week, we covered claims from Germany which stated there’s a clear trend for Leipzig to buy the Aston Villa man in the summer.

Leipziger Volkszeitung had a chat with the left-back to discuss a few topics, including his move to the Bundesliga club, his qualities and future beyond this season.

Aston Villa signed the 19-year-old from Red Star Belgrade in January 2024 and sent him back to the Serbian club on loan until the end of last season.

He arrived at Villa Park last summer and found it difficult to enjoy regular minutes under Unai Emery. This convinced the Premier League club to sanction a loan move to Leipzig.

The outlet asked the fullback how strong Leipzig are when compared to Red Star Belgrade and Aston Villa.

“Every competition is different. In Serbia, the quality of the league is different. But we also played against Leipzig in the Champions League with Red Star. I was at this club for eight years; it’s close to my heart. I won two titles, the league and the cup, and played in the Champions League,” he said.

“After that, I moved to Aston Villa in Birmingham. That was a good step. Because things are completely different in the Premier League. Then I came here, and that’s good too. I want to show what I can do and give 100% to earn it. I know I can. But it’s not important who plays; what matters is that we win and everyone gives 100%.”

Leipziger Volkszeitung say the youngster is ‘considered as a bright guy’, and after pointing this out to him, they asked if there’s anything that has surprised him at Leipzig.

Nedeljković explained: “I have a good feeling in Leipzig. I enjoy it here. I’ve also started learning German.”

It was no surprise to see the Serbian being quizzed whether he would like to stay at Leipzig beyond this season.

“We’ll see in the summer. And until then, I’ll definitely give 100% to this club,” he added.
