After his match winning performance for Valencia on Tuesday evening, Eliaquim Mangala was cornered by Super Deporte in the media mixed zone. Mangala not only helped Valencia keep a clean sheet, but also scored the only goal of the game against Leganes.
Valencia are on an upward curve at the moment after so much doom, and Super Deporte will clearly be keen for their local club to sign Manchester City owned Mangala permanently.
Asked if he wanted Valencia to make an ‘economic effort’ to sign him from Manchester City in the next transfer window, Mangala responded: “I’m very good, I like Valencia a lot but in football everything can happen. Most important is the matches and we’ll see at the end of the season. I cannot comment, it’s a matter of talking to the president. My job is to help the team. It is not my job to answer that question. It’s not up to me, I don’t know.”
Mangala himself would almost certainly also have to make an economic effort, with Valencia unable to match his Manchester City wages. However, with Pep Guardiola seemingly not a fan of the Frenchman, Valencia will be an increasingly attractive destination should they continue their rise up La Liga.
