Man United said to have summer signing pretty much sewn up, as official spotted at club again

 

It’s hard to think of a single Benfica match this season for which Manchester United haven’t sent their scouts to the stands.

For Benfica’s latest cup match, Manchester United officials were there once again. And according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the target was pretty clear: Victor Lindelof.

Benfica beat Estoril 2-1 and only conceded because of a penalty given after a handball, and the Swedish defender had a calm and safe game.

Newspaper O Jogo also reports the scouting, although they claim that Lindelof was not the only man being watched. The other one, of course, is right-back Nelson Semedo.

The player had a very good performance once again, being one of the best in the squad. His great form is even a subject for a full-page editorial analysis in today’s edition of Record.

A couple of weeks ago A Bola explained that Manchester United have an ‘agreement of gentlemen’ to sign Lindelof, with Jose Mourinho ‘reserving’ the player.

Yesterday O Jogo stated Manchester United have ‘right of first refusal’ on the player.

Summer will be an interesting time to see if these reports made any sense. But since the list of attending scouts is something official, it’s probably a fact that Mourinho’s side are keeping an eye on a few targets there, more than at any other Portuguese club.
