Real Betis are readying an attempt to keep Manchester United’s Antony on loan for another season.

The Brazilian has scored seven times in all competitions for the Spanish club and will have a key role to play when Real Betis take on Fiorentina in the second leg of their UEFA Conference League semi-final.

As Antony’s prominence continues to rise, Los Beticos president Angel Haro has confirmed that talks with Manchester United, about extending the winger’s stay, will take place soon.

He told El Partidazo, as relayed by Estadio Deportivo: “Keeping Antony as our own is very, very complicated.

“We’ll have a meeting with Manchester United to extend the loan for another year, to be able to share a percentage of the player. It’s about seeing the willingness of the player and Manchester United.”

Haro stated the Red Devils will be the biggest issue for any fresh loan, as it would be easy to convince Antony.

“The first filter is set by Manchester, and then the negotiation of the player would come, but that’s a long way off.”

“Besides, the player is now fully engaged, wanting to win a title with Betis. When the time comes and the season ends, he’ll be able to do his part if this option opens up.”

Real Betis do seem quite keen on keeping the ex-Ajax player beyond this season and as Haro mentions, everything could come down to Manchester United.

The Spanish side aren’t awash with financial resources currently and that could potentially impact their move in the summer.

If that happens, Ruben Amorim’s side will have to find an alternative and make sure that Antony is either sold permanently or is loaned out for a significant fee.
