Paris Saint Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino has hailed Everton striker Moise Kean, saying they were not surprised by his performance in Barcelona.
Kean is currently on loan with the French champions, having left Everton temporarily at the end of the summer transfer window following a disappointing first year on Merseyside.
He’s impressed in Paris since, establishing himself in the first team under both Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino despite the plethora of stars available at the club.
He was in excellent form in the midweek win over Barcelona in the Champions League, with a header helping his side to a comfortable 4-1 win in an impressive display.
That strike was Kean’s 16th in 29 games in all competitions this season, a tally that only looks likely to increase before the season’s end.
His performances have caught some off guard given how badly he struggled at Everton last season, but not Pochettino, who says he always knew how good the 20-year-old was.
“I was not surprised by Moise Kean’s performance in Barcelona,” Goal journalist Benjamin Quarez reports him saying.
“If I say I was surprised, that would mean it was a gamble. It was not a gamble; we know his qualities.”
