FC Porto welcomed Chaves on Monday night and among the official list of scouts, as published by A Bola on Tuesday, was an attendee from Watford.
Porto won the match 2-1 to put them one point behind Portuguese league leaders Benfica, having played a game more. They had to come back from a goal down, and strikes from Danilo and Laurent Depoitre clinched the victory.
There’s no indication of who Watford were watching, but it’s not the only Porto match the club have scouted recently. Looking at the January window, it would be difficult to take any of Porto’s stars and the players themselves may not be keen.
One option, and this is purely speculation, could be Laurent Depoitre. Despite coming on and scoring last night, the 28 year old Belgian striker has been a bit part player since signing for Porto from Gent during the summer transfer window.
If Watford were keen on adding another striker to their options then Depoitre could be a reasonable target for January.
