Adalberto Peñaranda is having a fine U20 World Cup in South Korea. The Watford youngster has managed to score one goal and make three assists in four games for Venezuela, and his country has progressed to the quarter-finals.
The player has been on loan at Malaga since January, and the deal includes the option to extend the spell for one more year. But things may change if he continues to do so well for the national team.
As reported by La Opinion de Malaga today, both the Spanish side and Watford are keeping their eyes on him, because his performances may affect his future. Especially for the Hornets, who could call him back to the club or even negotiate his sale.
Signed by Watford from Udinese for over €10m last summer, Peñaranda didn’t have the chance to play in the Premier League. He was immediately sent to Granada on loan for six months, and then spent the rest of the season at Malaga.
In total, he only managed to make 10 appearances in Spain.
