Valencia boss Javi Gracia has ‘set his sights’ on Watford duo Kiko Femenía and Gerard Deulofeu as he looks to add signings this summer.
That’s according to AS, who say the club are keen to ‘renew the squad’ this summer and this is something Gracia knew about before his arrival.
He will have a say on who comes in, and two of the players he would like are ones who he worked with during his time at Vicarage Road: Deulofeu and Femenía.
Both have been put on the transfer list by Watford this summer following their relegation to the Championship and would be ‘delighted’ to return to La Liga.
Similar, they would like to continue working together – AS describe them as good friends – while they would also like to work under their former boss.
This is especially the case for Femenía, who would like to return as his family currently reside in Sanet I Negrals, a municipality in the north of Alicante.
The problem is Watford.
While they are keen to get rid of players and start afresh this summer, Gino Pozzo is only interested in deals that can ‘make cash’.
Valencia, on the other hand, are looking at loan deals and aren’t interest in paying ‘large amounts’ for transfers after missing on the Champions League.
Thus, securing their exits will not be easy, although the newspaper speculates that the market could change and force Watford to consider loan deals after all.
Either way, the interest from Valencia is there and while it is fuelled by Gracia those in charge at the Spanish club, namely César Sánchez and Miguel Ángel Corona, have already been in touch with their entourages to find out their availability.
