Watford were one of the few clubs who had scouts watching the Portuguese League match between Boavista and Moreirense this weekend, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
With a 3-1 win, the home side got an important three points in the fight against relegation, while they’ve also harmed Moreirense’s chances of a place in the Europa League.
The game attracted a short list of scouts from unexpected visitors. Besides Watford, the only clubs who sent emissaries to this match were Antalyaspor, Las Palmas and Mallorca.
Two Boavista players excelled in the match. Winger Sauer and central midfielder Rafael Costa both had a big part in creation and were crucial for the good result.
When checking the last players Watford have been linked to, we’ve seen reports about interest in Porto winger Yacine Brahimi and Olympiacos midfielder Mady Camara.
So if the club are really looking for signings for both positions, maybe they saw two potential targets in this weekend’s game. Especially because a Premier League side can easily take players from mid-table Portuguese clubs these days.
