Watford have now reached a ‘definitive agreement’ with Barcelona for striker Rey Manaj to join them this summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the forward will move to Vicarage Road on a free loan until the end of his contract in 2023. Barcelona will ‘reserve a percentage’ of a future sale, though.
The newspaper explains that the two clubs are in agreement on the deal but are yet to make it official with the terms they’ve agreed on.
They’ve spent the last few days negotiating the final details of the deal. The Albanian striker has already travelled to England and visited Watford’s facilities.
He is currently ‘very much on standby’ at the club, waiting to undergo a medical after being given the all-clear to do so.
Watford have at no point considered paying a fee for the player, and Barcelona agree on that front. It is the percentage of the future sale which has been the ‘crux of the matter’ and the reason for the slight delay.
Manaj is keen on the move and joining a team in Watford who have aspirations of returning to the Premier League next season.
