Last month, during an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Watford’s Gerard Deulofeu admitted that he will not ‘close the door’ to return to AC Milan.
The forward spent six months on loan at the San Siro in 2017, when he was at Everton.
In the winter market, the Serie A club were reportedly interested in re-signing the former Barcelona man, but the deal didn’t take shape and the Spaniard will be at Vicarage Road at least until the end of the season.
A ‘confidential’ report from Thursday’s edition of Sport claims the Italian outfit ‘will go for’ the 24-year-old in the summer as the Rossoneri board of directors have never hidden their ‘obsession’ to bring the player back to the club.
Deulofeu’s contract with Watford is until 2023 and his name is ‘underlined in red’ in the list of summer targets for Milan.
After failing to land their target in January, Gennaro Gattuso’s side have contacted the Hornets to ask about Deulofeu’s price. It’s clear that Milan will make an approach for him in the summer, unless the fee demanded by Javi Gracia’s side is exorbitant.
The Spaniard already indicated that he is open to the idea of joining Milan and if the fee quoted by Watford is convenient, then Deulofeu could return to the Serie A in the summer.
It is also important to note that Sport does mention the attacker is happy with his current employer and shares a good relationship with Gracia.
