Watford have been knocked back in their first attempt to sign Copenhagen defender Denis Vavro, reports Tuttomercatoweb.
The Hornets are looking to improve their squad this summer after an impressive first campaign under Javi Gracia.
Improving their central defensive options could be on the agenda this summer.
That has seemingly led them to Vavro, with Tuttomercatoweb reporting they’ve already seen an initial bid for the defender turned down.
They don’t provide any details on the nature of that bid, only that the proposal was lower than what the Danish club are looking for. They are, however, willing to sell and have already begun the search for a replacement.
Watford will have to move quickly to secure the 23-year-old’s signature, though, with Lazio a particularly interested party. Indeed, TMW say Vavro is a ‘hot name’ as far as Simeone Inzaghi is concerned.
They also say there are several Iberian clubs interested in his services but don’t name names on that front. Either way, it seems if Watford want him they’ll not only have to up their offer but do it quickly.
