Spanish side Getafe have already contacted Watford over a move for striker Luis Suárez this summer.
That’s according to Fichajes, citing Onda Cero, who say the club have been in contact with the Hornets to see whether the forward will be available for transfer.
Suárez has spent the season on loan at Real Zaragoza in La Liga2 and thoroughly impressed, scoring 17 goals in all competitions so far and sitting among the league’s top goalscorers.
That has sparked numerous rumours about his future, with clubs all around Europe, particularly in Spain and Italy, thought to be keen on signing him from Watford.
The Premier League club, though, are seemingly keen on him themselves with several reports indicating they want to keep him for next season and plan to sign him up to a new deal.
What happens remains to be seen, but we can now add another suitor to the queue for his signature with Getafe making their move.
Fichajes explain that the Spanish side were keen on Suárez in February when it appeared that Ángel Rodríguez could move to Barcelona.
That never happened as Barça moved for Martin Braithwaite, but their interest has not gone away, and they are now eyeing him as a signing for next season instead.
Indeed, they have already contacted Watford to find out whether they are willing to negotiate a transfer and thus whether there is any possibility of Suárez moving to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
The Hornets stance isn’t mentioned, but it’s easy to imagine much will depend on what kind of fee Getafe and the other suitors are offering.
Speaking of suitors, the website also makes it clear that Valencia and Lazio are keen and ‘follow his footsteps’ after his 17 goals and three assists in 32 games for Real Zaragoza this season.
